For many years Cree babies have been dying in the James Bay Territory of Quebec of an unknown disease. In 1999, parents and grandparents of the affected babies along with the help of Doctors, Deborah Black, Robert Harris and Michael Lefson founded the Eeyou Awaash Foundation. Their prime objective was to find the cause of the deaths of the Cree babies and ultimately to find a cure.

This website is dedicated to the babies and children who lost their lives to Cree Leukoencephalopathy and Encephalitis and to the parents, grandparents and relatives who have suffered.

We hope the information on this website will help families who have babies and children that have or will be affected by Cree Leukoencephalopathy and Encephalitis to gain a better understanding and know that help and support is available.

Knowing that you are not alone, that there are people who are ready and willing to help can ease the pain.
