Eeyou Awaash Foundation

In 1999 Dr. Deborah Black, along with Dr. Robert Harris met with the parents and grandparents of children who had been affected by CLE and CE to inform them that the ongoing research by Dr. Mosarello’s laboratory in Toronto ( in collaboration with Montreal Children’s Hospital) would be terminated due to lack of funds. Deborah told the people present that for the research to continue, money would have to raised and scientists and laboratories contacted.

Concerned people - especially the parents and grandparents of children who had been affected by the two diseases - met on September 18, 1999. They formed a committee and decided to raise money to continue the research.

This committee was basis the for the Eeyou Awaash Foundation which was incorporated in January of 2000.
